I began dancing at the young age of three, and thanks to the love and support of my wonderful parents, I was able to continue pursuing my passion for dance all the way through college. Throughout my childhood, I trained at several studios and was fortunate to learn from many inspiring teachers. Once I found the studio that truly felt like “home,” I knew that dance was something I wanted to pursue as a lifelong career.
I had the opportunity to compete at numerous dance conventions and train under some of the industry’s most respected choreographers and technicians, including Mia Michaels and Mandy Moore. As a senior in high school, I was honored to receive The EDGE Dance Scholarship from the Urban Jam Dance Convention, which granted me two weeks of unlimited classes in Los Angeles, California. This experience gave me invaluable exposure to some of the top talent in the field and helped shape who I am as both a dancer and instructor.
After graduating from Dover High School in 2000, I attended The Ohio State University—one of the top dance programs in the country—where I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance. While there, I studied under renowned modern dance artists such as Bebe Miller, Susan Hadley, and Nicole Stanton. My training included a wide variety of styles, including Ballet, Jazz, Modern, African, and Breakdancing. During college, I had the unique opportunity to participate in OSU’s Dance Downtown production and worked with Bgirl Teena Marie for my Senior Project. One of the most rewarding experiences was being part of a community outreach group that brought dance education to elementary schools—an experience that sparked my deep love for teaching children.
After college, I returned to my hometown to begin teaching at one of the studios I trained at as a child. Working alongside my former mentor was a full-circle moment and a fulfilling way to give back to the dance community that shaped me. After five years of teaching, I took a leap of faith and opened my first studio, The Urban Dance Factory. Following three successful years, I knew it was time to evolve and expand—leading to the formation of Moxie Dance Academy in 2013.
Now as the sole owner and director of Moxie Dance Academy, I am proud to provide a creative and nurturing environment where students can grow both as dancers and as individuals. I currently teach a variety of dance styles and co-direct our Competitive Dance Team alongside our amazing Assistant Director, Ms. Hanah.
Outside the studio, I am married to my incredible husband, Rodney, and together we have three beautiful teenage daughters—one of whom dances competitively with Moxie. I am so grateful for my family, my mentors, and all the inspiring individuals who have helped me on this journey.
Dance is not just something I do—it is who I am. At Moxie, we make art and music visible, and we invite every dancer who walks through our doors to call this place their home.
