(Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Competition Team)
Sami started dancing at the age of three and her love for dance hasn’t stopped. She was very fortunate, thanks to her parents, to train in all styles at Backstage Dance Studio, UDF and Canton Ballet for 16 years. To further her talent, Sami’s mom would take her to countless dance conventions to improve her audition skills and learn from award-winning choreographers. Throughout her competition an convention days, Sami was awarded 13 convention scholarships, including best junior dancer at NYCDA, a two-week EDGE intensive scholarship located in Los Angeles, from LADF; and was awarded a tap intensive scholarship from SHOCK dance convention, located in Orange County.
She had dreamed about making dance a career, but it was important for her to have knowledge and training in fields other than dance. After highschool she attended the University of Mount Union. During her time at college, she continued her love for dance, this time as a teacher and choreographer. Sami taught hip hop, jazz, lyrical, progressions and competition team—from beginning to advanced—at Briana’s Elite Dance Company for three years. Many of her students have received specialty awards, and in 2015 Sami’s contemporary trio piece won 1st place at nationals. Sami graduated from college in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, with minors in Chinese, Art and Entrepreneurship, and hired in July of 2016 at Whitemyer Advertising as Marketing Services Coordinator. When she’s not working she trains in classical ballet at Canton Ballet. Sami will be teaching ballet, pointe, lyrical, hip hop and competition team at Moxie, bringing a fresh approach to ballet by utilizing different techniques and exercises to further improve strength, balance and flexibility. Sami is excited to get back into teaching dance alongside the amazing teachers at Moxie, and continuing to push the students to be the best dancer they can be.
